so tempted to post the sex scene in american psycho where patrick bateman just looks at himself in mirror, but i always promised myself there would be nothing vulgar (however hot) on this blog. such a dilemma.
No matter what women do - bend over backwards to prove they’re not man-haters, not lesbians, not transphobic, not ugly, not whatever fucking else men call women who care about women - they don’t really listen or care.
They just want women to kiss their butts (this includes all MAABS as a class of…
also, if their gender identities are so strong and important, why must they be validated by us? why must our movement be twisted to suit them?
I’ve always thought feminists were rational, intelligent and empowered human beings who believed strongly in the rights of women; ALL women, including, but not limited to: white women, WoC, fat women, poor women, differently abled women, thin women, lesbian women, bisexual women, asexual women, queer women. I thought of feminism as a safe space that wouldn’t allow any sort of sexism to permeate its core. The movement would not have had half the success it has if we’d been deprived of our female-only spaces during its early stages. Women NEED private spaces, just as men need theirs. Why is it that the trans movement has not only invaded our cause and spaces, but actually convinced these smart, powerful women that their rights are not, and never will be as important as trans (mens) rights, and their own needs should take a backseat in a movement designed to create their freedom, so that mens’ rights can come first, again, as always?
My earlier post about Adrienne Rich elicited an incredibly condescending response from a transwoman telling me that I had no idea what radical feminism is because I’m eighteen and from Australia. I don’t know how my age or location were relevent, and I could go into a lengthy post describing what I believe are the tenets of radical feminism to prove this person wrong, but I have more pressing things to do, so I will sum up my thoughts in one sentence: radical feminism is about dismantling the patriarchy and fighting for the rights of natural born women. We have been the group that has been oppressed for millenia, yet we are the last to fight for our own freedom. Trans activists coopt our movement, and transgenders/transsexuals coopt our identity and experience. It is inherently offensive and condescending to know that our lives as girls and women are not enough; that we need a man to tell us what it feels like to be a woman, to grow up as a girl, to experience years of sex-based discrimination. I understand that some trans people are killed and abused for their identity, but it would be incredibly short sighted to compare that to the gendercide that happens to natural women, to little girls who don’t get to choose their goddamn gender identity.
I’m not saying trans people should ever be harmed, they are free to do what they wish with their bodies, but I believe they should have their own movement that does not derail the issues and work of feminism. Fun feminists need to get on board with the plan, because rad fems are already here. We need to realise that women’s rights are important to prioritise and fight for, because women are important. Regressing to reparative rape of lesbian women (cotton ceiling, although soon i’m sure transmen will fight for gay men to want to penetrate their vaginas) and fighting for the rights of men before our own isn’t going to help anyone.
Just as you can go on believing your penis is a “feminine” trait and that it makes you no less of a “woman”, I can go on believing your claims are utter bullshit. Stop trying to derail radical feminism and start your own goddamn movement.
I was thinking after all the events and thoughts of the day, and I wanted to try making a clear and concise reason as to why trans women pose a threat to females. Not the possible physical threat, but the one caused by their appropriation of “female styled” identity.
To stop the repetition at the end of my tranz posts, or any tranz-related comments here at this blog, allow me to present my Standard Disclaimer:
Now, just before you go off testerically screaming “twanzphobia”, highlight the passages that: 1) denied you were a human 2) said I hated you 3) wished you bodily harm (telling you to piss off or calling you ‘idiot’ does not count) 4) point to the ‘loads’ of articles where radfems physically have beaten the crap out of a transperson If you find those bits, then please do run around screaming “twanzphobia”.
I firmly believe that male-born- and-identified men (any sexual orientation) can be great allies to radical feminists, and far better allies to the feminist movement than transwomen, simply due to the fact that they don't try to appropriate our identity.
Blackenedbutterfly: “I in no way define myself a feminist”.
So basically, you don’t call yourself a feminist, but you still trawl the tags to find things to get pissed off about? That’s like me trawling the trans tags to ask why you all aren’t discussing feminist issues…
You really don’t make any sense. Ever. And you say there’s a constant attack on the transgenders by radical feminists, but like there’s three of us and four hundred of you, so it’s kind of an extreme exaggeration, isn’t it? If you don’t identify as a feminist, leave our spaces and stop trying to make everything in the world about you.
